October 29 - Becoming Jane
This film is a partial biographical portrait of young Jane Austen. We follow her romance with young Irish lawyer Tom LeFroy (James McAvoy), whom many believe is the template for D\Mr. Darcy, the character she famously created for her novel Pride and Prejudice.

Robert Redford plays an idealistic young lawyer involved inn civil rights and ecology who challenges a popular incumbent for a seat in the United States Senate. This film illustrates the emotional, moral and financial costs of running for public office in America.

November 19 - Keeping the Faith
In this romantic comedy, two best friends, a Catholic priest (Edward Norton) and a Jewish Rabbi (Ben Stiller) find their friendship in jeopardy when a girl they both know from childhood (Jenna Elfman) returns to town. An impossible love triangle develops, but neither man can pursue a relationship with Elfman's character due to religious beliefs.

December 10 - On the Waterfront A priest (Karl Malden) sets out to smash mob control over the New York waterfront in this film classic, winner of eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Meanwhile, an inarticulate longshoreman (Marlon Brando) realizes what he could have amounted to in the world. Elia Kazan's direction, combined with Brando's acting skill, created an intelligent, superior piece of entertainment.
