Registering and Voting Information

Voting Dates for 2008

General Election: November 4, 2008

To Be Eligible to Vote in the General Election

Mail Registration:
Application postmarked no later than October 10, 2008 and
received no later than October 15, 2008.

In-Person Registration:

At the board offices no later than October 10, 2008.

On Saturday, October 11, the board will be holding Local Registration Days at numerous locations, including the Library from 12pm - 9pm. Check the Nassau County Board of Elections for other locations.

If person became a naturalized citizen or was honorably discharged from the military
since October 10, 2008, then the last day to register in person is October 24, 2008.

Change of Address:

If already registered, notify the board of change of address no later than October 15, 2008.

Voting by Absentee Ballot
October 28, 2008:
Last day to postmark application or letter for absentee ballot.
November 3, 2008:
Last day to apply for a ballot in person. Also, last day to postmark ballot. Must be received by Board of Elections by November 11, 2008.
November 4, 2008:
Last day to deliver ballot in person to Board of Elections.

Voting for Military Personnel
October 24, 2008: Last day for aBoard of Elections to receive application for absentee ballot if not previously registered.
October 28, 2008: Last day for Board of Elections to receive ballot application if previously registered.
November 3, 2008: Last day to apply in person if previously registered.
